Where to find hot springs in Costa Rica?

San José, Guanacaste, Alajuela and Cartago are privileged provinces of Costa Rica because the volcanic veins located around the country, allow these places to have a great variety of touristic places where you can receive the benefits of hot springs.

With all that options, you just have to choose the place you like more to enjoy the benefits that hot springs can offer you.

  1. Arenal Volcano. After the eruption of the Arenal Volcano in 1968, La Fortuna of San Carlos became one of the touristic destinies most visited in Costa Rica, thanks to its natural attractiveness and the volcanic activity this colossus maintained for years. Hot springs gave this spot an additional attraction and today La Fortuna is the place with the major number of places that offer this service.
  2. Miravalles Volcano. In Bagaces, Guanacaste there are also several options to enjoy hot springs with volcanic origin that have curative and medicinal properties. Jacuzzis, Turkish bath, pools with different temperatures, hydrotherapy are some of the options that you can find.
  3. Rincón de la Vieja Volcano. The hot springs that you can find near this volcano are accompanied for jungles and rivers, offering an environment full of peace and quietness, ideal for relaxing and recharging your energy. Additionally you can find saunas and volcanic mud in these places.
  4. Ciudad Quesada. However this is a place near to the city, these thermal waters, located just 3 hours away from San José, become an oasis of peace where you can receive massages and other spa treatments to get a more relaxing experience.
  5. Pérez Zeledón. The majesty of the Chirripó Hill is a great company for the thermo-mineral waters that can be enjoyed in this area with an average temperature of 37°C. Activities like walks, coffee tour or avocado tour can be reserved too.
  6. Hot springs with temperatures that goes from 19°C to 43°C is what you can find in the Orosi Valley. Minerals like sodium, calcium, iron, potassium and aluminum are part of its composition. You can also enjoy in this place the privileged view to the Irazú Volcano and the Turrialba Volcano.
